Most of my adult life, I worked as a paralegal. However, I also worked at various other jobs part-time when my kids were in college. I worked for a physician as a medical transcriptionist, transcribing his notes from a tape machine. I also did this same type of transcription work for a children’s protection agency that worked with young abuse victims. I not only transcribed the emergency room physicians’ notes, but also the social workers’ notes from their interviews with the children and their family members. This was probably the most interesting job, but also the most stressful, as everything I worked on involved some type of child abuse. I think my favorite job of all time was working as an assistant at a veterinarian’s office. I love animals, and I liked taking care of them and providing comfort to them in this stressful situation.
